Gold Reef City Casino, established in May 2000 and completely renovated during 2007, features a look and feel best described as 'Pure Jozi, Pure Gold.' The diverse and dazzling set of dining, gaming and entertainment options at the complex embody the excitement, buzz and energy that define Jozi as a city.

The casino is open 24 hours a day and features an abundance of gaming choices including 1600 slots, 50 tables, an exclusive Salon Privé lounge for the high-rollers and one of the largest smoking casino area in Southern Africa - Barneys Smoking Casino. The casino is a completely coinless 'Smart' gaming environment.

Gold Reef City Casino's 1100-seat theatre, The Lyric, has already established itself as one of Jozi's top entertainment venues. The complex also offers a stunning range of dining options, from fast-food and casual coffee shops, through to stylish and intimate restaurants and family eateries. Other facilities include shops, a games arcade, conferencing, a hotel and ample secure parking.

In terms of its bid commitment the casino funded the construction of the South African Apartheid Museum. The museum chronicles the story of the human spirit over adversity. The museum has proven to be popular with both foreign tourists and school groups alike. The museum is operated by a Section 21 Company.

Gold Reef Resorts holds a 100% interest in Akani Egoli (Pty) Ltd, which operates Gold Reef City Casino.

Theme Park
Gold Reef City Theme Park, first opened as a Mine exhibit 21 years ago and is the greatest theme park in Africa. Built around an authentic 19th century Gold Mine, the Theme Park is Gauteng's leading venue for family fun as well as a genuine slice of Johannesburg's history of gold, grit and glory.

The Theme Park is justifiably famous for its adventure rides, ranging from the tame to the truly terrifying. But those rides are just the jumping off point for a day at a family Theme Park, which also offers a host of fascinating Historical attractions themed around the birth of Jozi which takes you 300 metres underground into a genuine Gold Mine, it boasts the continent's only 4D Theatre, a stunning selection of shops and restaurants, a Children’s funfair for the little ones, an animal farmyard, Bird show, traditional tribal dancing, street parades and entertainment galore in a fully equipped Circus venue, for a venue with too much to do in one day visit GRCTP.
